    Clutch Noise/Vibration

Hi all I've got a 74 3500 running a Toyota W58 gearbox (was like this when I bought it). Up until now its had a smooth clutch and gear change with no problems. In the last week or so I've noticed a couple of things that are causing me some concern: 1. When stopped and I put the car into...

    V8 Kenlowe Fan

That's what I thought the fan should do, but ours is wired in to a switch beside the steering column and is manually turned on or off. I just leave it on in case I forget to turn it on and the car overheats. Cheers

    Handbrake Light???

Hi Ron Thanks for that. It does have the wires on the pads but they have plenty of meat on them all. The light is flickering a bit so im going to start with the cork float first and then attack the handbrake. Whats the best way to get at the float? Mark

    V8 Kenlowe Fan

Hi Ron The fan stays on all the time so it sounds like the new thermostat is a 74 c one as you say. As long as its not overheating im happy. Mark

    Handbrake Light???

Stupid Question Time: Should the brake warning light come on when the handbrake is on? And go out when the handbrake is off? The light has never worked with the handbrake on or off in our car. Cheers Mark

    V8 Kenlowe Fan

Hi everyone I've been looking at the temperature gauge on our car lately and noticed that it never really gets into the green section of the gauge. It heads up to just touch the start of the green section, then the thermostat opens and it drops back a little - basically its always at the top...

Thanks Ron, sounds like my hunch was right and i'll need to adjust the needle. Mark

    Temp gauge when cold

I was refitting the gauge cover today and accidentally knocked the temperature gauge needle. I now have a feeling my temperature gauge is reading low. Can anyone tell me where their temperature gauge needle is pointing when the enging is off? Mine is pointing right at the front edge of the 5...

    How Should the Brakes Feel?

The handbrake holds the car well in about 3 clicks so I would say its okay. Good to hear i'm not going mad and the brakes are in reasonable condition then. As for the hard pads on the front, I would like to replace them with a softer type to decrease the pedal effort required, I can hear the...

    Tacho - Again

Hi everyone It seems the tacho in the P6 is a popular topic here!! The issue with mine is that it won't go past 1000 rpms, regardless of what the engine is pulling, and at other times it won't work at all. Its an RVC type and I've had an instrument technician look at it who said it tested up...

    How Should the Brakes Feel?

Hi everyone I'm a new P6 V8 owner and I've been having a few issues with the brakes. When I got the car the pedal had a lot of travel so after a bit of trial and error, I found the servo needed attention. It ended up getting re-sleeved and rebuilt which has greatly improved the car's braking...

Toyota 5 Speed and Heavy Clutch

I also noticed that the pipe setup is as follows: Reservoir to clutch master cylinder - standard pipes Clutch Master to Clutch Slave - starts off as a hose that looks like a brake hose, then connects to a copper pipe, then into the slave cylinder. Not sure if changing these pipes would make...

Toyota 5 Speed and Heavy Clutch

Hi all I've got a 74 P6 V8 that has had a 5 speed Toyota Supra gearbox conversion done. The car changes gears nicely but I have noticed the clutch is very heavy, especially when I compare it to our 65 Triumph Vitesse. I have noticed the hydraulic setup is using the standard Rover V8 Master...

    Remving the Handbrake Gaitor/Tunnel Finisher

Hi everyone I'm having a bit of trouble getting the tunnel finisher off the car. I've undone all the bolts/screws but cannot for the life of me get the handbrake gaitor off so I can remove the console. Its in pretty good condition and I don't want to damage it if possible. Anyone got any...

    Choke/Temp Sender wiring

Hi all I'm a new P6 V8 owner, love the car but hate the fact the temperature gauge doesn't work. It won't register any movements on the needle, even when I turn the ignition on. The fuel gauge works perfectly though. I was poking around the engine bay the other day and noticed the wire going...

    Inlet Manifold Question

Thanks for your help. I managed to clear out the pipe no problem and decided to use my wife's bike pump to check for any other blockages. Attached it to the pipe and blew a heap of rubbish out the back, nice and clean now. Cheers Mark

    Inlet Manifold Question

Thanks John. The manifold is off the car at the moment and I'm keen to clean out the passage way to prevent any problems later on. Do you (or anyone else) know where to access to passageway for this? Cheers Mark

    Inlet Manifold Question

Hi all Stupid question time. I'm a first time Rover owner with a 74 P6B 3500 and i'm in the process of tidying up the engine a little bit. Question - what is the little pipe sticking out of the inlet manifold between the carbs for please? I recently had the manifold off and had the core...

    Temp Gauge and Rev Counter

Hi everyone I'm a new member here please forgive me if any of the questions I ask have been dealt with before. I'm hoping to receive some "pearls of wisdom" from members here to get our car sorted. I'm no stranger to classic cars and am happy to do most work on them, although electrical stuff...
