1967 2000TC - HOT

Just seen this Paul
Very Very sorry for you. At least you are ok! It is good to know the static belts do there job.
Hope you manage to get all this sorted out

Regards
James

Thanks for the support guys. It seems I might not have to lift a finger to sort this now though. Initial talks with the insurance company have suggested that as the 3rd party is claiming for repairs to their van I may as well claim to get HOT repaired too as it won't make my insurance claim history any worse than it already is. This will keep Jane happy too as she doesn't think I have time to repair it myself.

Obviously I'm going to tread lightly here because I don't want to end up with a bill from the repairs if/when the cost of repairs exceed the value of the car.

What a nightmare! :?

I was re-reading your thread this afternoon whilst bored at work - what amazing work, such a shame for this to happen.

Fingers crossed that everything works out with the insurance!

Hi Paul,
Really sorry about the outcome for HOT after all that good work. I was reading for inspiration on my restoration and only just reached the end...On another note my Rover is literally a double of your Zircon / minilites model (less the wheels) so will be my bench mark. Don't worry - I won't add minilites....although I would love to.

Regards Mark

Right then, I've just had a visit from the insurance assessor who's happy that it's repairable and agreed not to write it off. The only downside is that it's only economically viable if I do most of the work myself so I'll start work on a shopping list at the weekend.

In the meantime if anyone knows of a series 1 bonnet, front valance and grill for sale please let me know.

Oh Paul, that's fantastic news.
Probably mixed emotions for you knowing you'll have to break out the grinder and welder again... but I'm really pleased to hear it's savable. :)

Just to make you feel a bit better, three weeks ago, while driving to work, this happened to me:

A mistimed rear view mirror check, plus the brakes had lost efficiency, still investigating that one.

just under three weeks later, a new indicator lense, a new radiator and clever use of a bottle jack, bits of wood, hammers and cable ties, and its back on the road.

Not a P6 i know, but with a p6 you've got the advantage of a bit more room and removable panels!

Dont give up ;)

hi what a shame i love dolomites . My first car was a 1500 dolly. When i was looking for a classic it was between the rover p6 or a dolomite. Rover won because there panels come off easy.

Paul,

I've got a series 1 bonnet and grille available from the car I just finished stripping. No valance though..

Sorry to hear about your car Paul, gutted for you. Hopefully you will get it sorted! It looked a real tidy car up until then so has to be worth doing.

Thanks Chris, I'll probably take you up on those parts. I don't suppose you have a slam panel on that car you've just stripped have you?

'Oh Bugger'?!

Yep, that's about it although at the time no words at all came out of my mouth.

It looks like I'll be able to get most of the bits I need from the forum members so it will be back on the road.

hope so - chewbacca is going to be split. Obviously he's a v8 but let me know if anything off will help. Includes if you want to angle grind sections of base unit to take away :)
