Very impressive looking bit of work there Pilkie. Those old cereal packets do come in useful :D.

Re: MG TF1500 project.Body at painters,so eng/box can go in.

Nearly finished all the eng/box,bits 'n' bobs painting & cleaning the alloy!!
Want to fit a dynamo instead of an alt for period looks, just got to find one that will fit on the n/s of the engine!
Want to get a chromed rocker cover,or try and find a good one to get chromed,am painting the current one silver.
Engine looks orange with the flash but it is MG red!

Looks like you have to be logged in, it didn't work for me.

I got in OK & it looks good but, v. weird, couldn't get back to Rover Forum. Had to close & re-open!
The TF is great and I reckon that satin chassis finish suits it

Re: MG TF1500 project.Body and panels now in primer

GOOD NEWS!!! :D
My painter has started working on it at last!! :D
Main tub is in epoxy,as are some of the panels,so should all be in epoxy primer by end of tomorrow, ready for final prep and flatting back and stonechipping the undersides in prep for painting over the weekend.
He hopes to paint the tub late tomorrow afternoon so it can be in the oven overnight for good cure time, and the rest of the panels will be done on monday.
Each panel and tub will still have to be flat and polished,so I am hopefull that it will all be back by Sat 20th Oct.
Its possible the tub may come back this Sunday, but ive said I dont mind if it takes a bit longer.

Re: MG TF1500 project.Body and panels now in primer!

A sneak preview as its not quite ready for the full unveiling yet :)
IMAG1950.jpg

Main tub, doors, door steps, bonnet flaps and a wing are painted, the rest are ready for stonechipping of the undersides and priming all over on monday.
Ready for flatting back and painting on Tues.
Weds will be sorting out any little niggles there may be and then the process of flat and polish can start.
All being well it should all be ready for a planned collection on Sat 27th.

Re: MG TF1500 project.Body and panels now in primer!

Rubbing my hands for you Dave.......can't wait to see it all back together :)

Re: MG TF1500 project. All painted and due home 27/10

great colour choice dave is that the cars original? Cant wait to see this finished 8) it reminds me of one of them burago models you put together yourself

Re: MG TF1500 project. All painted and due home 27/10

Its original colour was either MG or Autumn red!!
Apparently when they were shipped out to the USA in popular MG red,new buyers had them painted Autumn as it was hard to get one shipped already in that colour!.
This is as close to original Autumn red as you can get these days!!

OOH NO!
They only look sort of ok on the big yank tanks, not on a little british sports car.
It will have silver painted steel wheels with MG logo'd hubcaps and a chrome wheel ring.
