Best ways to clean dirty engine parts?

Hi Colin Just saw this post whilst browsing. I am guessing from your post that maybe you used to work for the Airport Fire Service?? I used to be an aircraft refueller for GRS during the 90s. Maybe a few of those spills were mine!! Having been smothered in JetA1 a few times I would not...

R-reg' Avocado P6B in Sheere, Surrey...

I suspect this may have been at the Cranleigh Classic Car show. I was there and am sure it was with other club P6s so must be a known/member car.

    The perfect daily drive?

I seem to remember reading a magazine article about this one, if this is indeed the car. It was restored by JP Restorations for a chap who wanted a daily driver with many mods. As well as the electric windows I am sure it was also fitted with central locking. I recall a figure of 20k being spent...

Matlock Police And A GT Falcon

Lived in Australia, Adelaide, from 70-72 as a young teenager. Dad owned a cracking 1963 or 64 Holden EJ sedan. Pretty sure my petrol head developed during this period with the likes of the Valiant Charger R/T, Falcon XY (esp the GT-HO phase 3 droool!!) and Holden Torana (GTR??) knocking...

    Rear ended

Ouch!! Hope you are OK. I was involved in a similar accident some time back, not nice. I'm sure you will have the car back to its best, its a corker of a P6. My only advice when dealing with insurance companies is just don't be rushed and don't be bullied. They will want the quickest and...

LYK has decided to die on me. Hoping to come along "Roverless" nonetheless so I can just drool.

    A Dilemma

What harm can it be to badge it as a 3500S. If you were selling it and hiding it's past then yes questionable. But your not. IMO, in your own ownership, badge it as you feel happiest.

    Tyres for the 3500

Hi Barten I have had CAMACs fitted to LYK and are pleased with them so far. They are the correct rating and are not commercial tyres. Vredestein are good, I used to have them on my old P4. Have a look here. http://www.vintagetyres.com/search?qs=%5B185R14%5D If you are interested Vintage...

Buddy Can You Spare A Dime?

I know its not Rover related but it did make the eyes goggle when I chanced on this through an F1 site. I just love the bit where it says "Get Low Monthly Payments". Well that makes it really tempting! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FERRARI- ... 256fd2f83f

    Petrol "crisis"

Fixing leaks means employing people and costs money. That eats into profit margins. Why do that when you can make more money screwing people with price hikes and water meters that will mean we will eventually be paying as much for water as we do petrol. :x Offwat fined water companies a total...

    Red P6 on A24

Was anyone travelling down the A24 toward the coast on Sunday afternoon in a nice looking red P6? I was travelling in the opposite direction and only caught a quick glimpse so no reg and model. It certainly looked wonderful in the bright sunshine.

    Petrol "crisis"

What a glorious summer I can foresee. Fuel shortages, water from standpipes and bloody VAT on pasties!!!!!!!!! Seriously though the government have acted so irresponsibly here just to manipulate public opinion over the threat of strike action. Still I'm sure there have been some...

Is insurance a rip off ?

Well I was certainly confused, bewildered and stupified by my experience. To me this is just sharp practice marginally better than scamming. I don't believe these sort of practices are morally acceptable and they do not occur because "we" as a collective put up with it, my opinion is it occurs...

Is insurance a rip off ?

I'll just add my recent experience of renewing my families policies. We were all on an Admiral multi car policy, two teenage daughters, my wife and myself. Our renewal came in at a total of just under £2000. All our policies had risen but the girls had done so excessively with one rising to over...

    MJJ 551L

I remember reading about the company car P6 many moons ago. As memory serves, or perhaps not, it even had central locking fitted. I remember a fantastic figure being quoted as spent on it. A shame it has been allowed to lapse into its current state.

New Topic... ways to wind up the new apprentice

Used to work at a swimming pool and always used to pee off the engineers/maintenence blokes by sending youngsters down for glass hammers etc only to be chased out the boiler room by the chief engineer, Charlie a miserable bad tempered old sod, with a flea in their ear. One day we sent our...
