    P5B - His Lordship

I'm longer overdue an update here, so here goes: I awoke the P5B from its winter slumber in April (I know, I know) and realised the alternator was failing to charge. Unfortunately this was the original item, but after some help from the P5 owner's club I sourced a new Lucas A127 self-regulating...

**UPDATED**Series 2 V8 project, anyone seen it before??

Re: Series 2 V8 project, anyone seen it before?? Looks to be good base but if it is damp I would recommend detaching any perishable items and moving them into dry storage until it is watertight. For example, ET headrests can be worth a fair amount on their own - if you are not yet decided on...

    Indoors or outdoors Rover?

Four months into ownership the council gave in to my weekly phone calls and granted me a garage - and very grateful I am for it!

    My 2000SC Auto daily driver

Some excellent shots Fraser - great to see the 2000SC on show and in good running order. As ever I am jealous of the wooden steering wheel! After owning two 600s I trust the 827 is proving to be excellent transport - it looks to be in remarkably good order and having passed an MOT is any actual...

    P5 rear lamp cover

Excellent work - very impressive. I've just fitted a relatively good new one for my P5 but perhaps I could commission one for 12 months time!

    P5B - His Lordship

Thanks for the comments - good to be back with a healthy car. The Rovering Member - I discussed with the helpful chaps at Kenlowe as I had gathered metal was a problem. They supplied toughened plastic grips which pass through the fins. The fan is also much lighter than older used examples I...

    1965 Rover P5 3litre Coupe - The fleet grows by 1

Looks like there is plenty of room to stockpile parts in the container until you get round to it - I've got some bits from the P5B that may be suitable if you want to PM your current list.

    P5B - His Lordship

Evening all, Returning to this forum after a few months away, good to see so many projects marching onwards in the winter months. I thought I'd post an update as I finally had an evening to myself and some good tea. After sitting in the inevitable traffic on a cold London night last...

Some winter symptoms for your diagnosis...

All, I've been using the P5B a lot recently and while comfortable and reliable I have some niggles with the engine: 1. Whole car vibration at 2500 - 3000 rpm. This is no matter the gear selected and can be simulated at standstill in 'P'. The toolkit, steering wheel and my single filling start...

    Magnecor

I found Magnecor to be amicable and helpful in lead replacement if you have proof of purchase. Mine were a gift but came with the receipt, single replacement lead supplied very quickly. As Corazon says you can buy individual leads too. Let us know how you get on!

    A quiet Rover

Good to see another P5B on the board - I have visited your site a few times since my purchase last year. I know you have replaced the suspension components but can I ask what tyres you are now running? The set I purchased from the Rover club, plus proper wheel balancing and alignment made a...

    Power steering belt - P5B

We're definitely in the 21st century of disposable cars - Halfords have just made belts 'obsolete'. However the 20 year old that told me this was in disbelief and said they had replaced the shelf space with 'more windscreen wiper choices'. I have instead sourced them online. Sigh.

    New Addition To Me!

Good to see this staying in the forum (and giving Fraser more room to purchase 75s!) - I hope you'll be starting a Member's Project thread to track progress.

    New toy

Fantastic machine - I continue to espouse the restorative qualities of watching animations of Lysholm superchargers. If you are fond of deploying that torque I hope you are friendly with the local tyre suppliers...

    Power steering belt - P5B

OK thanks - it should save a few pennies too buying with a set size rather than from a 'rover specialist'. Will report back when all is quiet 'on the turn'.

    Power steering belt - P5B

Afternoon all, Can anyone confirm the power steering belt for a 1972 P5B will be the same as on V8 P6? The former is difficult to track down but I am hoping they are exactly the same. My current belt is making the most awful racket and is past its prime. Thanks in advance,

    P5B - His Lordship

While the front brightwork was pretty decent after a clean and oil, the rear required some attention. The car came with a number of pieces ready to fit (number plate cover, two boot handles) but two of the lesser-spotted P5 components, a rear bumper and reversing light 'hat' took a long time to...

Littlewick Show 2013 (August 26th) Report

With some trepidation I signed up to the Littlewick Show on last Bank Holiday Monday. This would be the first proper show I had taken the P5B to after a year of getting it safe & roadworthy; I was dreading a breakdown en route and rain turning the venue into a Glastonbury-esque quagmire...

    Meet Mr Manky.The 1964 Moggie 1000 Traveller!!

Re: I have a new project! Meet The Manky Moggie!! Hi Pilkie - is it ever possible to advertise the car as 'for sale with a restoration' and give the purchaser the ability to specify how parts of the restoration are completed? I just thought it may be a way to lock in fees up front, perhaps get...

Good to hear you have a selection of Rovers at your disposal Frazzle - do you have a picture of your entire Kirkcudbrightshire fleet when the 3500 was still under your care?

    P5B - His Lordship

The (recently recored) radiator has been bypassed entirely at the moment for the ATF. It may have been wishful thinking but the running temperature for the engine coolant was marginally lower as a result on the 2 hour drive home. I will be monitoring all liquid levels carefully and as I take the...

    P5B - His Lordship

The P5B is roadworthy once more - after a number of trips to a gearbox specialist, five new tyres of the correct size and new number plates a fresh MOT was granted last week. Huzzah! I elected to have the BW35 rebuilt and the established specialist uncovered a veritable Frankenbox with various...
