    Rover P6 seeking Dry Garage

1973 Rover P6 seeks dry garage in the Chelmsford, Essex area for companionship, whilst his master gets the old, leaky garage demolished and the new one up. Might be needed for a year or two. RSVP.

    Rover 75 2.0 CDTi

Following the birth of our first son, Elliot, in March this year, my Mrs has now commandeered the company car (Merc C220 CDTi) to ferry the little man around, given this has the Isofix seat fixings in the rear. At the weekend, I picked up a genuine 60,000 mile diesel Rover 75 Classic on a 06...

    BRAKE warning light

This has just started to flick on and off, albeit intermittently. Seems to happen when the brake pedal is pressed (even if car stationary) but not always - it does flick on and off on the move when the foot isn't on the brake. Pads have max 3000 miles wear on them. I haven't had the chance to...

    Rear Light Fogging

Has anyone else on here experienced the problem of condensation gathering in the rear light lenses? I did replace the foam seals and the rubber screw seals a few years ago. Short of silicon sealing them up, has anyone any sensible suggestions for resolution?

    Outdoor Car Cover

The construction of my new dream garage is having to wait until next year (hopefully) once time and funds allow, given I have half of the house itself demolished and being bricked up anew. As a result the P6 is sitting outside and I really need to take steps now to prevent all my hard work going...

    Sisal Carpet

We may have a sisal carpet enthusiast representing the transatlantic sisal carpet industry who I note has just joined the forum - step up Jennifer! I know this from another forum I post on and the response she has posted to a 2 y/o thread that had the words 'sisal carpet' in it. I wonder if she...

RVC Rev Counter for V8 P6

Fed up of my 'dancing needle' RVI rev counter, which reads 1000 rpm too high in hot weather, I am looking to convert to a later RVC voltage sensed rev counter. Has anyone a nice condition spare counter they are happy to part with? Many thanks.

    Intermittent fuel and temp gauge

Noticed the fuel and temp gauge were together not working first thing this morning. I popped to the shops, parked up and when I returned to the car to drive home, both gauges decided to work again. All other electrics are OK.

    Any ideas?

Taken the old girl for a run this morning after she has stood a few weeks idle. The indicators have stopped working (both signals and dash indicators) along with fuel oil temp and petrol gauge. Fuses seem fine. I haven't time to start dismantling today. Can anyone provide any pointers? Thanks

    Reconditioned Lucas 11AC

The Lucas 11AC alternator in my P6 finally gave up charging the battery a couple of weeks ago (during its MOT) after months of 'pulsing headlights' and dancing ammeter needle. I was going to have a bash at reconditioning it myself, but time is very much against me at present. After sending my...

Garage Grumble - the world's worst garage?

After moving house in June, one of my priorities was to get the single detached garage all sorted out so I could get the old girl (my car) in there. I intend to pull it down and rebuild a proper block, but for the time being need to get it in service. Firstly the wall at the rear of the garage...

Rover P6 Glove Boxes in Ebony

My standard gloveboxes are surplus to requirements and taking up space now I have inherited a pair of padded, German spec glove boxes. These standard gloveboxes are in very good condition having being removed from my 1973 V8. The lucky inheriter of these will need to collect them from near...

    Rear Door Frame Rust

Since I bought my P6 in 1994, the rear offside door frame (behind the striker) has had a small patch of rust, around 2" x 1" which has been chopped out twice, repaired and resprayed, the latest repair being around 2 years ago. When the rust has returned, it hasn't come back with a vengeance...

    Pre 1973 choke cable

My choke cable now no longer locks properly (a clothes peg is a temporary solution). I have a spare inner cable with the banana shaped handle, not the later crushable type - would this be any use or is it likely to be the outer sleeve that is U/S?

    Auto gear knob fibre washer

The fibre washer at the base of my auto gear knob has finally disintegrated. Does anyone know where you can source a replacement? Standard 15mm plumbing fibre washers are a bit too large.

    Rover P5 Wedding Car Wanted

Now then. I have suggested that a nice P5 is the wedding car of choice for my other half when we tie the knot next August. Is anyone on here able to recommend a good place to go or someone who can provide the car and driving duties? 3 litre or V8 - no preference. White would be nice, but...

    Assistance needed!

If anyone could help I would be most grateful. In changing to the correct rear shock bushes for my V8 I need the following parts: The large washer with the smaller hole that fits over the threaded end of the shock. This is part no. 90565755. I could also do with one of the half locknuts that...

    Disco Lights?!?

Whilst the P6 was sitting on my drive the other day, engine running and interior light on, I noticed a rythmic but gentle pulsing of the interior light. When driving at night, if I look closely the headlights do the same. The 11AC alternator was fitted with new brushes and bearings a few years...

    Wiper unit full of rainwater???!!

Whilst putting the finishing touches to my rebuilt heater box, i.e. adjustment of the blending and vent valves, I removed the wiper motor for better access. However upon disconnecting the cable rack and undoing the bobbin mounts, a large quantity of water poured out of the motor unit. I can...

    Heater insulation button

I am missing one of the small black plastic buttons that tethers the fibreglass insulation to the heater box. I am looking for a good original item. Can anyone please help? Many thanks.

    Fuseboard mystery

I have a spare part in my toolbox, which I cleared out today. I seem to remember removing this from the rear of a scrap P6 fuseboard around 16 years ago. It is a plastic plate which appears to provide protection between the live terminals and the bulkhead. It has 2 holes for the fuseboard fixing...

    Heater Unit Refurbishment

Hoping to get my P6 MOT'd and back on the road for Easter so it can enjoy an autobox rebuild, I have a few things left to do. One of these is the rebuild of the heater box. I plan to renew the foam sealing strips, get the matrix rebuilt and take apart the fan motor, clean, re-grease bearing...

    Petrol filler hose

Whilst replacing my rear screen rubber (and the decker panel being off the car), somehow the chrome fuel cap managed to get some deep scratches in it. :( I plan to take the fuel filler assembly off, drift the cap pins out and sent the cap off for a rechrome. I thought it would be a good idea...

    Windscreen rubber replacement

I have just finished replacing my windscreen due to the original rubber beginning to degrade. I bought the rubber from Rover Classics; seems a quality item with formed curves in the two corners. I have a minor grump; the fit of the rubber around the corner finishers isn't great; the outer rubber...
